New Bluestone Installation, Tuck Pointing & Restoration

Bluestone is a beautiful and durable stone to install on your walkway, front porch, or patio. If the stone is installed correctly, its beauty can last for many years. It's a strong stone and holds up well with the cold weather. Mortar joints separate the Bluestone pieces and hold it together. It's important to maintain your Bluestone by periodically tuck pointing the mortar  joints to ensure your Bluestone stays watertight.  As installation of new Bluestone is one of the most expensive forms of flat work to be done it it important, to maintain you investment. 

The Bluestone installation process involves removing existing materials or clearing the area, preparing the area, installing  form boards, adding rails and double AA crushed stone base to proper grade,  and pouring  a 4” thick concrete base. Next we purchase, cut, and install Bluestone pieces on the entire area(in a bed of mortar- type S mortar mixed with powdered dye and aggregate stone for proper aesthetics). Bluestone installation is a labor and time intensive process. 

 We have installed over 500 new Bluestone patios, porch caps, walkways, etc over the last twenty years. We have ground out and tuck pointed all the mortar joints on literally thousands of existing Bluestone patios , porch caps, walkways, etc. After grinding out and tuck pointing all mortar joints, a complete power wash and acid wash are then performed.
